Handcrafted from bleached abaca rope in a scalloped bell shape, it's a woven natural material rather than a moulded or fabric one, which gives the light a textured, broken quality as it passes through rather than a flat diffusion. A slender metal frame supports it without competing for attention.

At 64 inches it stands as a full-height floor light — tall enough to read beside, and the 22-inch shade diameter gives it real presence in a corner or beside seating. It weighs 24.2 lb, which is what you want in a piece this tall. The on/off switch sits on the socket, and it takes a single medium E26 base G25 bulb up to 15W on 120V.
